Chamo Bijlmakers – Multi-Instrumentalist

Chamo Bijlmakers is Musest’s versatile multi-instrumentalist. Much like the “fourth member” Muse has taken on tour for years, Chamo steps in wherever needed to bring each song to life on stage. From synths and keys to percussion, guitar, backing vocals, and even triggering sounds and light cues. He helps make sure everything comes together in the live show.

Born in September 1990, Chamo discovered his love for music at an early age. Inspired by bands like Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, and Radiohead, he picked up the guitar and went on to play in several alternative rock bands. For many years, he performed as a guitarist and backing vocalist in a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band. In 2024, he decided to close that chapter and fully focus on Musest, his family, and his professional career.

Alongside rock, Chamo has a strong passion for electronic music. Artists like Stephan Bodzin, Boris Brejcha, Monolink, and Solomun are among his favorites. When Muse started incorporating more electronic elements into their sound, it felt like a natural fit for him. Adding even more energy and dynamics to the live experience.

What he enjoys most about playing with Musest is sharing the music with other fans. There’s something special about experiencing Muse’s songs together, especially when the crowd sings along. Those moments are what make it all worth it. While he doesn’t have one specific favorite song, Madness always stands out to him for its atmosphere, and Starlight is one he really enjoys playing live.

Outside of Musest, Chamo works as a functional HR-software (AFAS) administrator. He lives in Gorinchem with his wife Wendy and their daughter Milou. In his free time, he enjoys working out (gym and running), going to concerts and festivals, gaming, and relaxing with good food, movies, and series.
