Chamo Bijlmakers – Multi-Instrumentalist

Chamo Bijlmakers is Musest’s versatile multi-instrumentalist. Much like the “fourth member” or touring musician that Muse has included in their live shows since 2004, Chamo takes on whatever role is needed to bring each song to life. His responsibilities vary from track to track and include:

  • Synthesizer (Moog Sub 37)
  • Keyboards (Nord Electro 6D)
  • Percussion (Shaker / Cabasa / Electronic drums)
  • Backing vocals
  • Guitar
  • iPad (for triggering sounds, tracks, and light cues)

Born in September 1990, Chamo discovered his love for music early on. Influenced by bands like Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park and Led Zeppelin, he picked up the guitar and began performing in various alternative rock bands. For many years, he played guitar and backing vocals in a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band. In 2024, he decided to close that chapter and fully dedicate his energy to Musest, his family and his professional career.

Chamo also has a passion for electronic music. Artists like Stephan Bodzin, Boris Brejcha, Monolink, and Solomun are among his favorites. So when Muse started incorporating more electronic elements into their sound, he embraced it wholeheartedly—it only made the live shows more dynamic and fun for him!

Outside of Musest, Chamo works as a AFAS Functional Admin at Veiligheidsregio Brabant-Noord. He lives in Gorinchem with his wife Wendy and their daughter Milou. In his free time, he enjoys working out (gym/running), going to concerts and festivals, gaming, and indulging in good food and movies/series.
